The Dream Behind Dare to Dream

Hi! I’m Miss Anna. I was four when I started dancing and it didn’t take long before I really enjoyed it. However, I didn’t realize how important it was to me until my family moved from Nebraska to Moorhead, Minnesota.

After a few months of settling in, I suddenly started longing for dance again. I remember suddenly one day I was obsessed with dancing all the time and after that my mom got to work on finding a dance studio for Noelle and me.

In the end, a friend told us about Messiah Dance Theatre. Noelle and I checked it out and from that moment on I was totally in love with dance. It was more than just a hobby. I am always dancing, especially when I hear music. Noelle is even worse. (If worse is the right word. It’s not really a bad thing.) She dances ALL THE TIME!!!  Noelle and I became very involved in our old studio and it wasn’t the easiest thing to leave. But that placed a love in my heart for teaching younger girls. And I wanted to make a way for any girl to dance.

Dance is a huge part of my life and I don’t know what I would do without it. I want other girls to have a chance to feel the way that I have felt about dancing, ballet in particular.   That’s why I decided to start a free dance studio for girls aged Kindergarten to 7th grade. Dance wasn’t the cheapest thing to do and I wanted to remove as many boundaries as possible.

I named the studio Dare to Dream because I want to encourage people to dream big. I have had plenty of big dreams in my life, like starting a dance studio. And what do you know, I started a dance studio when I was 15! Dreaming isn’t a bad thing, it inspires you to do more than you think you can do. And you never know, sometimes you just might end up with those dreams coming true.

Our classes started out being based more on age than skill level as most of the girls hadn’t come from a dance background. Now, we are beginning to base our classes off of more skill level.

I am very proud of all the girls and they continue to impress me with how fast they catch on.

After five amazing recitals – the last three of which were performed at the Braham High School – I am so proud of all that they have learned and accomplished. I look forward to all that they may do in the future, and all that I might be able to teach them. To see them progress in dance, and in life in general, is an amazing thing.

In our 4th recital, Daughters of the King, we surprised the girls by having their fathers/father figures crown them. This was to symbolize that they are daughters of the King, Who created them and loves them more than any earthly father ever could.

I pray that the Lord continues to use Dare to Dream to help girls, and audiences, experience the love of God, and the joy that comes from worshiping Him.
